The Perfectly Preserved project included creative direction and design for vinyl, CD, and deluxe vinyl formats. The band, led by Brian "Head" Welch of Korn, provided a generous lead time, allowing for multiple rounds of ideation and refinement.

Throughout the initial concept phase, multiple directions were explored using roughly-mocked photo references. Though we were beginning to narrow the funnel towards something that felt final, cohesion began to wane as extensive revisions chipped away at the essence of the concept. With the deadline quickly approaching, we made the bold decision to start completely fresh and hopefully regain the clarity of concept it seems we’d lost somewhere in the process.

Without much time left, we rendered the photographic imagery in 3D and built meticulous composite images that fit the theme of the album title. This new direction required intensive production work, including 16–18-hour illustration sessions in order to meet the final deadline. The client loved the result, we completed the full job in time, and our gut decision paid off in a resounding win-win.
